Posted on Fri, 17 January 2014 by

Do you have a good idea of which search terms you wish to rank for? Want your website to be found naturally in Google without needing to pay for ad clicks?

You've Likey Heard "Content Is King"

Web searches like Google want to reward websites that contain relevant and engaging information. If this is important to you then you ought to provide high-quality information on your web pages.

Publishing relevant and engaging information on your website is also crucial to keeping visitors—your potential customers—on your website. If your pages contain useful information it also encourages others to link to your site.

Understand that Google runs software to visit your website and read pages. So it is important to include search terms that you desire good rankings for in your web pages. In particular, desirable search terms should be found in URL paths, page titles, headings, images and body text.

Word of warning—do not make the mistake of spamming your desired search terms throughout your content or at the bottom of your page. Google may consider this keyword stuffing and actually penalise your website.

Finally, your website should also be coded in such a way that content is accessible, readable and optimised for Google. This is so important that Google have themselves put together a Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide for webmasters.
